EN: A walk around Malasaña is a must, in my opinion, even if you stay in Madrid for just a day! It is the place where pretty much all cool kids gather, where you can find the coolest little stores and bars and definitely, the place with the most intense nightlife. It is really close to the center of the city, but once you step into the neighbourhood, everything feels more intimate and friendly. I spent countless days walking around this area, discovering its cafes, vintage shops and its bookstores – where you can buy used English books for a couple of Euros. At times, I would simply sit on a bench in one of its plazas and watch the people passing by, with their interesting outfits on, riding bikes or skateboards and wishing they all moved to Cluj…
RO: Dacă mă întrebi pe mine, o plimbare prin Malasaña e clar pe lista lucrurilor de făcut când ajungi în Madrid. Nu prea știu cum să descriu cartierul ăsta, pot să zic doar că e locul unde toți oamenii faini, îmbrăcați în haine faine, se adună la o poveste în cafenelele super-faine. Malasaña e foarte aproape de centrul agitat al orașului, dar o dată ce pășești în cartier, parcă totul devine mai intim și prietenos. Eu m-am plimbat zile la rând, în timp ce cautam tot felul de cafenele drăguțe, vânam cărți second-hand în engleză prin librăriile înghesuite de străduțele pavate. Alte dați, mergeam pur și simplu și stăteam într-una dintre piețele micuțe, ca să mă uit la oamenii care își plimbau ținutele foarte cool pe biciclete și skateboarduri și îmi imaginam cum ar fi dacă i-aș lua pe toți cu mine la Cluj…
HOW TO GET THERE? It is really easy. You can either walk from Puerta del Sol to Gran Via and then continue on Calle Fuencarral (which begins near the Telefonica building). Or, you can do it my way, and take the Metro from Puerta del Sol (Line 1, light blue) and get off two stops later, at Tribunal (HERE you have the Metro Map). From there, you go straight ahead on Calle de la Palma and follow whatever path – you are in Malasaña now, it’s pointless to follow one beaten route. Just let yourself get lost – you will eventually find your way to one of the several metro stations that are there (Noviciado, Plaza de España, Bilbao, etc).
CUM AJUNGI IN MALASANA? E super simplu. Dacă vrei să pornești pe jos, din centru, mergi din Puerta del Sol pe una dintre străduțele care te duce pe Gran Via și o iei pe Calle Fuencarral, pe lângă Edificio Telefonica. Dacă vrei să mergi cu Metroul, tot din Puerta del Sol, iei linia 1 (albastru deschis – ai AICI harta metroului din Madrid) și cobori două stații mai târziu, la Tribunal. De acolo, o iei tot înainte pe Calle de la Palma și gata – ești oficial în Malasaña. Nu are sens să te uiți după străzi exacte, mai bine te plimbi și te pierzi, într-un final tot vei ajunge la una dintre stațiile de metro Noviciado, Plaza de España sau Bilbao.
